Welcome to the web site of Kerr Literary Services. My name is Paul C. Kerr. I am a published author (see my other web site at http://www.archer440.webs.com/). The fact that I am a published author does not qualify me to provide ghost writing and proof reading services. It's the years I spent researching my book and writing it, which was from 1993 to 1997.
After that, it was the years it took me to get my book published (2006). That was the defining moments of my writing career. In those years I learned what it takes to gain the interest of a publisher. I learned the do's and don't in the publishing world. The first thing I learned is that publishers and editors do not just sit around, pipe in one hand, while they read your manuscript.
Chances are the senior editors of a publishing firm may never see your manuscript. This is a brutal truth, I'm afraid. The next thing about publishers is that they are extremely selective as to what types of manuscript they will even consider. Through the years and of numerous editors I dealt with via mail and E-mail, who, though not accepting my book, gave me valuable advice on what to do and not to do.
Another fact is that publishing is a business. You'd think that this was obvious, but, you'd be surprised that many authors don't think of book publishers in this manner. Many think that publishers would do all they could to publish any books submitted and that was their ultimate goal. Sadly, this isn't true. To a publisher, a book is the bottom line. Will it sell and will it make them money.
So I heeded what these professionals in the business had to say. I learned a hard fact. My book needed to be edited, edited and edited even more. Then after it was edited, proof read, then edit again, it needed to be edited and edited even more. Publishing isn't as it was in the early sixteen hundreds, where rich young aristocrats decided to publish books as a means to obtain possible talented literary works from their friends and family.
Today’s publishing firms are a dime a dozen. Traditionally many of the houses were located in
My job is to help you structure your manuscript and make it as presentable as possible. Make no mistake, no matter how much you edit your work, chances are there might be some mistakes, whether it is a few misspelled words or a missing hyphen, period or such, but, through various avenues of editing, we can transform your ideas and your manuscript into the best it can be. Let's work together to make your dreams come true. I look forward to hearing from you and will be honored to work with you on your labor of artistic expression.
